Stephen Wayne Anderson

Offender: Stephen Wayne Anderson broke into the house of an elderly woman. Before he was arrested he helped himself to milk and noodles in his victims house.

Meal: Stephen Wayne Anderson choose a slice of peach pie, radishes, hominy and corn, a pint of cottage cheese, a pint of chocolate chip ice cream, and two grilled cheese sandwiches. I got the peach pie, radishes, and hominy from Jewel; the corn, cottage cheese, and ice cream from Walgreen's; and the sandwiches from Smokehouse. Later that day I had a bowl of noodles and bottle of milk also from Walgreen's.

Troy Davis

Offender: Troy Davis was assaulted a man, and then shot a cop who intervened.

Meal: Troy Davis refused a special meal and received a standard meal consists of cheeseburgers, grape soda, potatoes, coleslaw, cookies, and baked beans. I got the burgers and drink from Smokehouse and the rest from Jewel.

State: Georgia

Brandon Rhode

Offender: Brandon Rhode and his accomplice Daniel Lucas broke into a house and killed the father and his son and daughter.

 Meal: Brandon Rhode received the standard meal of a chili dog, tater tots, coleslaw, carrots, fruit punch, and cake. I got the hot dog at Smokehouse and the rest at Jewel. 

Total Cost: 1.79(fruit punch) + 3.49(tater tots) + 1.50(carrots) + 1.26(coleslaw) + 2.50(carrot cake) + 3.69(chili dog) = $14.23

Adjusted Cost: 1.79(fruit punch) + 0.35(tater tots) + 1.50(carrots) + 1.26(coleslaw) + 2.50(carrot cake) + 3.69(chili dog) = $10.88

Richard Hickock and Perry Smith

Offenders: Richard "Dick" Hickock and Perry Smith broke into the Clutter home, believing there was a safe full of money.  After finding out no safe existed, they killed the family. To this day, authorities do not know which of the two was responsible. The murders they committed were featured in Truman Capote's novel In Cold Blood and various adaptations.

Meal: Both of the killers choose fried shrimp, fries, garlic bread, strawberries with cream, and ice cream. I bought the shrimp and fries from Steakhouse, the ice cream (Carmel Overload) and whipped cream from Walgreens, and the garlic bread and strawberries from home.

Total Cost: $5.73 (Fries and Shrimp) + $7.08 (Ice Cream and Whipped Cream) + $8.98 (Strawberries and Garlic
 Bread)  = $21.79

Adjusted Cost: $5.73 (Fries and Shrimp) + $3.04 (Ice Cream and Whipped Cream) + $2.24 (Strawberries and

Andrew Lackey

Offender: On October 31, 2005, Andrew Lackey broke into the house of Charles Newman, believing it to contain a vault of gold and cash. After a confrontation between the two, Lackey stabbed Newman, and shot him with his own gun.

Meal: Andrew Lackey had Grilled Cheese, Fries and Turkey Bologna.  For my recreation, I had the former two from Smokehouse and the latter from Jewel.

Total Cost: Grilled Cheese and Fries ($4.11) + Turkey Bologna ($3.04) = $7.15

Adjusted Cost: Grilled Cheese and Fries ($4.11) Turkey Bologna ($0.76) = $4.86
